Scott Dixon was born in Urmston, Manchester, and began his equestrian journey at the age of four. From then on always pony mad! Supported by riding lessons and eventually his own pony, Rosie.
Scott dedicated himself to riding throughout his childhood as much as possible. Scott and Rosie competed together at pony club events for many years, As Scott turned 9yrs old he spent most weekends helping at the local riding school, gaining valuable hands-on experience. laying the foundation for his future in equestrian sport.

Upon finishing school, Scott applied for a position with professional rider Danielle Heath. He spent several years as head groom and rider for Danielle, where he learned the intricacies of a show production yard. This period marked Scott’s introduction to county-level competitions, where he successfully qualified his first pony for the prestigious Horse of the Year Show.
His time at Team Heath was instrumental, teaching him daily care, training routines, and the art of turnout to a high standard. Together, Scott and Danielle celebrated notable successes with exceptional horses such as “Oathill Take the Biscuit,” Horse of the Year hunter champion, and “Whitaker’s Prince,” Horse of the Year riding horse champion.


Seeking further experience, Scott moved on to become Head Rider and assistant trainer for Jayne Ross and Carol Bardo at their yard near Windsor. This significant move away from home proved to be the most rewarding decision of Scott’s career. Under Jayne’s mentorship, Scott transitioned from groom to top rider and soared to success over the next four years. Together, Jayne and Scott achieved remarkable results across the UK, including 20 Horse of the Year titles, five Horse of the Year championships, and three Horse of the Year supreme titles. Their string of horses included riding horses, cobs, hunters, and hacks.
A highlight was Scott’s first Royal International and Horse of the Year win with “Catriona of Meggernie,” a Highland pony mare. Scott remains deeply grateful to Jayne Ross for her support and encouragement, which enabled him to excel in the ring. Mark Chester also played a crucial role, teaching Scott the skills needed for top-level competition turnout.

During his time with Jayne Ross, Scott gained extensive experience in breaking and training horses, often handling 15–20 horses for breaking during the winter months. He was also afforded the opportunity to participate in stunt riding and film work for both Dents Stunt Team and The Devils Horseman Stunt Team, contributing to productions such as Aladdin, Game of Thrones, Downton Abbey, The Witcher, Britannia, to name a few.


Scott’s career also took him abroad, spending the UK winter in Australia riding for Mark Kenzig in Melbourne. Over five months in Australia, Scott maintained an unbeaten record, securing victories across the country, including the pinacol winning Australian Horse of The Year.
Upon returning to the UK, Scott continued to work and compete with Jayne. At the end of the season, he was approached by JJ Kemp to assist in training the South African team for their Horse of the Year Show. Scott embraced the opportunity, spending 6 weeks in South Africa where he coached JJ’s team and competed himself, winning both the riding horse and hunter titles at South Africa Horse of The Year. South Africa holds a very strong part in Scott’s life making friends for life with J.J Kemp and his partner Adriaan Drescher. Scott visits south Africa frequently to coach and train.


Back in the UK, Scott transitioned to working for two private families. The Leeman family where he enjoyed a successful season with major wins at Royal Windsor, Hickstead Derby, and capped the year with the riding horse championship at HOYS alongside Kellythorpes Obsession. Scott also worked with the Price family, producing and training Phoebe and her team of horses to achieve victories nationwide. He supported Phoebe’s transition from ponies to horses, leading to wins at Royal Windsor and the qualification of all her horses for Horse of the Year Show, where they each placed in the top five. Scott took great pride in Phoebe’s achievements against seasoned adults and professionals.
Shortly after Scott reached the age to be able to become a Showing judge, he applied for the Judging panels. This was something that Scott takes great pride by being an extremely fair and knowledgeable judge over so many sectors of the showing world. He is a British Show Pony Society; Show pony, Show hunter pony and Heritage panel star judge. Secondly, he is on the ROR Panel where he had the most amazing time judging for the society at Royal Windsor aged only 21, Finally the Heavy Horse Ride Panel.
It is a very proud achievement that Scott has judged all around the UK, but also overseas in Ireland, Guernsey, Jersey, South Africa and Australia. Scott will eventually go for the Show Horse panels when he feels this is appropriate ,once he isn’t competing weekly in these societies.


After a demanding decade in the show world, Scott chose to take a break for 12 months, accepting the role of Sport Saddle Technician for Devoucoux. This position allowed him to work alongside some of the country’s top athletes in Dressage, Eventing and Show Jumping as they prepared for the Paris Olympics, offering a refreshing change of pace and scenery, also gaining invaluable experience fitting saddles.
In spring 2025, Scott and his partner Chris purchased their own equestrian property in Kent, marking the launch of Scott Dixon Equestrian. This new venture heralds an exciting era for Scott and Chris, Building the dream property while creating an extremely promising roster of horses and clients. Scott produces horses and ponies for the show ring, also offers a breaking service, Scott thrives by helping clients achieve their dreams and is currently one of the leading showing and flatwork coaches in Kent where he trains clients of all levels from local level all the way to Royal International, Horse of the year and London International Horse Show.
